30.07.2019 Update
Ochanomizu University held a 3-day open campus event for prospective undergraduates from July 13 (Sat.) to July 15 (Mon.), 2019. A total of over 6,700 visitors including entrance exam candidates and their parents participated in the event despite the rainy weather.
A meeting place was assigned for visitors at each orientation venue per department or course. People gathered for the lively opening of each program. At the venue, the orientation started with the President’s video message, followed by briefings in general on our unique education programs. The programs include liberal arts education integrating the humanities and sciences and a multiple elective course program as well as wide-ranging global education, the university scholarships, student dormitories, and diverse entrance exam systems. Then, the staff explained specifics on the departments, faculty and courses. Demonstration lessons, individual consultations with undergraduate students and faculty members, and lab tours were later conducted in a creative and unique manner.
As a new feature of the open campus event, we held a panel discussion of our new Humboldt admissions office (AO) entrance examination with a group of successful AO examinees. The audience attentively listened to the discussion. The Hisao & Hiroko TAKI PLAZA, newly opened in March 2019, had a large number of visitors. During the pre-registered Q&A session with our President which was launched last year, the President clearly answered the questions from the floor on the value of studying at Ochanomizu University, women’s empowerment and the like.
All the programs were well attended, including various corners for visitors to get information on the university, the university library and the history museum attached to the university, the information corner on the Kiinsai campus festival and the University CO-OP (the cafeteria and the shop were open).
Ochanomizu University will host an open campus event next year as well. Information about the next year event will be posted on the university website once the date and time are finalized. We look forward to welcoming many visitors.
