1 Planning and test preparation
- Determine your future goals
- Establish precisely why you want to study abroad

- Plan your finances
- Obtain a university brochure
- Visit the Ochanomizu University website
- Check to be sure the university offers the courses, lectures and academic advisors of your choice

2 Applying
- Check and prepare the documents necessary to apply
- Check how to send the documents
3 Immigration procedures for taking the entrance examination in Japan
- If the entrance exam involves travelling to Japan, make arrangement for lodgings and an airline ticket.
- If the entrance exam involves traveling to Japan, obtain a passport or check the expiration date of your passport
- Check at a Japanese embassy or consulate whether you need a visa or not; if you do, apply for one
- Check the route, travel time, and transportation cost to your accommodations
4 Entrance exam
- Check the exam schedule and location
- Check transportation to the location
- Check and prepare the documents necessary to bring with you
5 Admission notice
- Receive your Certificate of Admission
- Check when your Letter of Acceptance and Certificate of Admission will be issued
- Check the deadline for paying admission and other fees
6 Immigration procedures for studying in Japan
- Obtain a passport or check the expiration date of your passport
- Apply for a visa at a Japanese embassy or consulate
7 Preparations for admission
- Apply for travel insurance
- Set a schedule for traveling to Japan
- Check eligibility requirements and apply if you wish to utilize Ochanomizu University student housing If you will rent a private apartment, look for one and find a cosigner
8 Travel preparations and departure
- Check the move-in date of your housing in Japan, and then arrange for an air ticket
- Check the route and transportation cost to your destination (the university and your housing)
9 Off-campus procedures and enrollment
- Submit a moving-in notice to your local government office
- Apply for National Health Insurance at your local government office

- Attend the university entrance ceremony and orientation
